I have ran into the auto-takedown issue myself when posting videos to Youtube. As a dancer, I enjoy sharing videos of my choreography, which often uses a copyrighted song. I do feel this is unfair because I am not claiming the rights to a song that I dance to, but rather I'm sharing my own creativity inspired by the professional music. Even if the video gives credit to the artist, it is still not acceptable by Youtube's standards.
In honor of my battle to create videos without Youtube taking them down, here is a Remix I created myself that uses the professional video work of the activist group, Pussy Riot, with a song called "WWPRD" by Jeffrey Lewis and the Rain.
